DEMING – The Western New Mexico University Board of Regents convened on Monday, July 15, 2024, to evaluate President Dr. Joseph Shepard’s performance for the fiscal year. President Shepard received high marks, exceeding expectations and meeting criteria for a retention bonus.
Regent Vice Chair Lyndon Haviland detailed the review process, praising Shepard’s exceptional leadership. Performance objectives for the upcoming year were also set.
President Shepard reported an enrollment increase of approximately 70 students for the fall semester, indicating a positive trend for the university.
Director of Professional Development Bobbi Dodson updated the board on the ongoing review and revision of university policies, highlighting a new webpage for stakeholder feedback.
Regents expressed gratitude to President Shepard, Dodson, and the faculty and staff for their diligent work on policy reviews. The next board meeting is scheduled for September 12, 2024.
