DEMING – A Silver City High School teacher was arrested on Thursday, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. According to court documents, Felix Thompson admitted to police that he was involved with the student but claimed the relationship wasn’t sexual and that he ended it. However, the victim reported that, while they did not engage in sexual intercourse, they did participate in other sexual activities. Police indicated that text messages between Thompson and the student confirmed the victim’s account.
Thompson is now facing 19 felony charges, including six counts of criminal sexual penetration, 12 counts of criminal sexual contact, and tampering with evidence. After being booked into the Grant County Detention Center, he was released under the supervision of pretrial services.
