DEMING – Authorities in Deming have reported several arrests related to bench warrants and criminal charges issued over the past week.
On January 3, Luna County law enforcement arrested several individuals for failing to comply with court orders or appearing in court. Danielle Peña, 20, was taken into custody under a warrant issued by the Deming Municipal Court for failure to appear. Arturo Carbajal, 23, was arrested on a Luna Magistrate Court warrant for failure to comply with court directives.
Jesus Esteban Garcia, 35, was apprehended under a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear. Additionally, Makea Payne, 33, was charged with abandonment of a minor, which did not result in death or great bodily harm.
In a separate case, William Shane Plant, 35, was arrested and charged with stealing $600 worth of tools from a shed in the 1200 block of Santa Barbara Street. Authorities allege that Plant broke into the shed to commit the theft.
The Luna County Detention Center is handling the booking and pretrial arrangements for those arrested.
All individuals mentioned are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
