CBP Officers at Columbus Port of Entry Ready for Valentine’s Day Floral Inspections

DEMING – As Valentine’s Day approaches, Customs and Border Protection officers at the Columbus Port of Entry are preparing for an increase in floral imports from Mexico.

CBP agriculture specialists will be inspecting cut flower arrangements to prevent harmful plant pests and foreign diseases from entering the U.S. Travelers bringing flowers should check CBP regulations to avoid prohibited plants like chrysanthemums, juniper, and mock orange.

Other restricted items include fresh produce, pork products, and raw poultry. CBP urges travelers to declare all plants, food, and alcohol to avoid penalties.
