DEMING – The Village of Columbus is inviting the public to a special event on March 8, 2025, to mark the 109th anniversary of the infamous raid led by Pancho Villa. What was once a tragic moment in history has now become a celebration of unity, friendship, and remembrance between the U.S. and Mexico.
The annual Memorial Ride, recognized as Luna County’s longest equine parade, will begin at the U.S.-Mexico border, bringing together riders from both sides to honor the past through camaraderie and tradition. The day’s festivities will feature Ballet Folklorico performances, mariachi music, food booths, and guest speakers at the Pancho Villa State Park.
Retired U.S. Army soldier Vern Yates will lead guided walking tours, while the Ogden Memorial Library will host book signings and film screenings showcasing Southwest authors and historical documentaries. Organizers emphasize that the event is free and open to all ages, with no admission fees at any venue.
The Village of Columbus invites the community to come together on March 8 for a day of reflection, history, and friendship.
