DEMING – The Luna County Board of Commissioners will convene a special meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. inside the Luna County Courthouse. The meeting was called to address new business involving the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2025–2026.
Chair Colette M. Chandler is scheduled to open the meeting, with the Pledge of Allegiance and State Pledge to follow. Commissioners Ray J. Trejo of District 1, Chandler of District 2, and Christie Ann Harvey of District 3 will take part in the proceedings. Roll call, motion, and vote will confirm a quorum.
The key item of new business is consideration of the 2025–2026 fiscal year preliminary budget. The agenda indicates this will require a formal motion and roll call vote.
Also on the agenda are reminders of two upcoming sessions: a public input work session scheduled for June 12 from 9:30 to 10 a.m., and the board’s regular meeting that same day at 10 a.m.
The commissioners are also expected to enter a closed executive session at the end of the meeting. The executive session, allowed under the New Mexico Open Meetings Act, Section 10-15-1(H)(2), will concern a limited personnel matter regarding the County Manager’s contract. A motion and roll call vote will be held to enter and exit that session.
