DEMING – The Deming Police Department is investigating a late-night road rage incident that left a motorcyclist with a gunshot wound.
According to a media release from Chief of Police Sergio Lara, officers responded around 11:30 p.m. on June 2 to a report of a man suffering from a gunshot injury. The man told officers he was riding his motorcycle east on Florida Street when a red pickup truck with a gray hood nearly failed to stop at a stop sign on Granite Street. After honking his horn, the motorcyclist said the truck began following closely behind him.
As he passed Gold Street, the motorcyclist reported hearing a loud bang and feeling a burning sensation in his arm. He then called for help, telling officers he believes the incident was the result of road rage.
Evidence of a gunshot wound was confirmed by police. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, and the case remains under active investigation.
