DEMING – Luna County is launching six new vocational education programs at the Mimbres Valley Learning Center this summer, aimed at expanding workforce opportunities for local residents.
The initiative, developed by Luna County, introduces hands-on training in high-demand fields. According to the county’s official announcement, new course offerings include AI Literacy for Community Leaders, CDL Semi Class A & Forklift Operator, Welding, Phlebotomy Technician, Cosmetology, and an upcoming English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
The AI Literacy class begins July 19 and runs Saturdays through August 9 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The cost is $99. CDL and Welding courses start July 13, with CDL training priced at $6,000 and Welding at $4,000. Phlebotomy Technician training begins July 15, with tuition listed at $2,789.05. Tuition assistance is available for several programs through America’s Job Center or Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) resources.
