DEMING – Deming Animal Guardians and its no-kill rescue branch, DAGSHIP Rescue, are continuing their lifesaving efforts by transferring 13 cats and kittens to Watermelon Mountain Ranch in Rio Rancho, while four dogs are scheduled to head to Animal Humane in Albuquerque.
Operating from their facility at 1755 Domingo Rd SW, Deming, NM 88030, and corresponding at PO Box 1275, Deming, NM 88031-1275, the organization remains committed to reducing the number of animals needing rescue—though intake numbers continue to rise.
In the first five months of 2025, Deming Animal Guardians took in 33 percent more animals than during the same period in 2024, marking their busiest year since opening the no-kill rescue in 2017.
Help may be on the way. The New Mexico Veterinary Board has released $1 million in spay and neuter funding through SB57, with final allocations expected in September. Meanwhile, the organization has received $6,000 in support from the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico and the Gila Community Foundation.
