Mountain View Cemetery Clean-Up Scheduled

DEMING – The City of Deming will begin a major maintenance and clean-up operation at Mountain View Cemetery on August 18, with the work expected to last about two weeks.

According to the city, the project will ensure the cemetery remains clean and safe, and will include the removal of items not located in vases attached to headstones. This includes flowers, glass vases, solar lights, and miscellaneous objects. Funeral designs and floral pieces will be removed once they become unsightly, and certain decorations like glass or ceramic containers are not allowed due to safety and maintenance concerns.

The city also notes that small American flags may be displayed for up to three days during appropriate occasions, but city personnel may remove them afterward without liability. Any items considered objectionable or placed in violation of regulations can be removed by city staff after proper notice.

Cleanup will begin on the west side of the cemetery and continue eastward over approximately two weeks.

The City of Deming thanked the community for its cooperation and emphasized that the work is necessary to maintain the appearance and safety of the cemetery. Residents with questions can contact the City of Deming’s Community Development Department at (575) 546-8848.
