DEMING – Three people were taken into custody in separate incidents and booked into the Luna C
ounty Detention Center this week. All information provided to Deming Radio News by the Deming Police Department and the Luna County Detention Center.
Authorities say 25-year-old Brenda Stephanie Gonzalez of Deming was arrested early Tuesday morning following an incident on August 4. She faces charges of drunkenness and interference with officers.
New Mexico State Police also arrested 26-year-old Ivan Gonzalez-Lopez late Monday night. Investigators report he was taken into custody around 9:18 p.m. and is facing charges of aggravated driving under the influence, driving without a license, and improper lane usage.
Later that night, troopers also booked 43-year-old Jorge Nevarez of Deming. He faces a long list of charges, including speeding, driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, failure to maintain lanes, resisting or obstructing an officer, assault and battery on a peace officer, possession of prohibited controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and not having his driver’s license in his possession.
Other crimes were also reported in the community. A residence at 2220 South Gold Street had four windows broken, with the damage estimated at around four hundred dollars. Police say there are no suspects at this time.
Other incidents include a battery case at Bell Elementary School, where an educational assistant teacher was bitten by a student. No charges were pursued. In another case, a woman living in the 500 block of West Pine Street reported receiving repeated telephone harassment from her ex-boyfriend.
And tonight, the Deming Police Department will be out at Courthouse Park for National Night Out. Sworn officers and civilian staff will be on hand from six to eight p.m. to meet the community. The evening will feature food, games, and activities for the whole family.
