DEMING – The Luna County Board of County Commissioners will hold a regular meeting on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Luna County Courthouse. The agenda includes a mix of budget actions, departmental updates, road management resolutions, and service recognitions.
Among the early items are the approval of minutes from the July 10 work session and regular meeting, as well as a special meeting held July 24. A five-year service award will be presented to Angel Esparza of the detention center.
David Bailey will give a presentation on the NMDOT NM-26 Hatch Highway Road Safety Audit, offering insight into current and proposed traffic safety measures.
Under the consent agenda, commissioners will review more than $2.4 million in accounts payable, nearly $1.55 million in payroll, and several fiscal resolutions, including budget increases and transfers, property disposal, and the official appointment of Sheriff Deputy Manuel Juarez.
Elected officials from several offices, including the Assessor, Clerk, Probate Judge, Treasurer, and Sheriff, along with the commissioners themselves, will give their regular reports.
In new business, commissioners will consider a series of resolutions related to infrastructure and community development:
- Resolution 25-60 authorizes the submission of documents for Water Trust Board funding assistance.
- Resolution 25-61 involves participation in the Que Linda Program with the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
- Resolutions 25-62 through 25-64 seek to vacate and abandon portions of Arrowhead Road, Red Onion Road, and Nolina Road SE.
- Resolution 25-65 supports the development of gravel biking trails in Luna County.
- Commissioners will also vote on the award recommendation for RFP FY113-004 regarding a new Enterprise Resource Software System.
The board will recess to convene as the Claims Board, reviewing over $23,600 in indigent claims. The presentation will be led by Alexandria Garcia, with votes expected before reconvening as the County Commission.
Community Support Reports and the County Manager’s Report will close out the session.
