Deming’s Local Arrest and Crime Report

DEMING – The Deming Police Department has released media reports spanning August 18 through August 22, outlining numerous arrests, domestic cases, and investigations into animal cruelty.

On August 18, officers arrested John Hernandez, 48, for trespassing, harassment, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Robert Parra, 55, was booked on a Municipal Court warrant for shoplifting. Ariel Bustamantes, 26, of Columbus, was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol concentration of .16 or more, failure to maintain lane, no driver’s license, multiple traffic violations, no insurance, and open container. Manuel Rodriguez, 39, was charged with battery upon a household member and criminal damage to the property of a household member. Andrew Reed, 18, of Detroit, Michigan, was arrested for interference with officers and prowling. Eric Arias, 42, was arrested for battery upon a household member.

In other crimes reported on August 18, Jesus Munoz, 29, was observed breaking a window and entering a property. Damage was estimated at $110, and Munoz was charged with breaking and entering along with criminal damage to property. A warrant was issued following a domestic violence report, charging an individual with false imprisonment, battery upon a household member, and criminal damage. Officers also cited and released Rafael Villadolid, 52, of Phoenix, Arizona, for shoplifting at Walmart.

Additional incidents included two juveniles, ages 10 and 14, caught shoplifting at Walmart and released to their parents. A battery at the softball fields. A 17-year-old female juvenile was charged with battery upon a household member and felony battery upon a healthcare worker.

On August 20, police investigated cruelty to animals at an apartment complex on Santa Cruz Street, where a dog owner reported their pet may have been poisoned. Testing to confirm was not completed due to financial limitations, and the dog’s survival was described as uncertain. The case was forwarded to CID. Also on August 20, an 8-year-old juvenile and guardian were summoned to the Juvenile Probation Office for assault upon a school employee involving threats and menacing conduct.

Other arrests on August 22 included Patrick Sigman, 19, on a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear; Jose Villegas, 32, of Chaparral, on a Dona Ana County Magistrate warrant for failure to appear; Jeremy Jaramillo, 28, on a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear; Sara Perales, 37, on charges of possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia; Christopher Hernandez, 44, on a Luna County Magistrate warrant for failure to comply with probation; and Kristofer Herren, 41, on a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to comply with probation.

Also on August 22, a stolen vehicle was reported involving a 1973 Ford F-150 taken from the west side of town. Deming Police are investigating. In a separate report, a dog was found dead with what appeared to be a gunshot wound, and the case was forwarded to police investigators.

Other incidents included a juvenile male issued a summons for battery upon a school employee at Memorial Elementary School. In another case, a 15-year-old boy was hospitalized with severe head injuries. Although initially reported as the result of a bicycle crash, doctors determined the injuries were inconsistent with such an accident. The juvenile was sedated and unable to provide a statement, and officers plan follow-up interviews.

Police said investigations into several of these cases remain ongoing.
