Local Crime & Arrest Report – Tuesday, September 2nd

DEMING – Deming Police and local authorities have released the latest crime and arrest information.

Two men were initially reported in custody. Forty-two-year-old Henry Spooner of Deming was booked on charges of battery upon a household member and on a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to appear. Thirty-nine-year-old Andrew Calanchi of Deming was arrested on a municipal court warrant involving charges of injuring or defacing property and battery.

Additional arrests this week include fifty-one-year-old Russel Asbill, who was picked up on a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear. Forty-three-year-old Jonathan Deegan was charged with failure to register as a sex offender. Twenty-seven-year-old Jesus Romero was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s Service on a Doña Ana County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to appear. Thirty-four-year-old Ricky Enriquez was arrested for resisting, evading or obstructing an officer and failure to stop. Forty-two-year-old Crystal Johnson was arrested on a charge of battery against a household member.

Police also report a larceny summons issued to fifty-year-old Sonia Granado of Deming. According to investigators, Granado is accused of stealing a woman’s purse at the Dollar Tree store on August thirtieth and was ordered to appear in municipal court. In a separate case, officers are investigating the theft of a green electric bicycle valued at sixteen hundred dollars, taken from the Sunrise RV Park on East Pine Street on August thirty-first.

On the community side, the Deming Police Officer’s Association has made a contribution to local youth sports. The group donated more than one thousand dollars to purchase trophies for the Deming Youth Flag Football League, helping recognize the achievements of young athletes.
