DEMING – Local law enforcement reports the following activity for Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Police arrested 52-year-old Brian Keith Henning of Deming on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Also arrested was 26-year-old Israel Rodriguez of Deming for battery upon a household member, and 25-year-old Larry Carreira of Deming on a district court warrant for failure to appear. Officers charged 47-year-old Joel Acosta of Deming with aggravated DWI, first offense, after he refused a chemical test, along with reckless driving. Twenty-five-year-old Ramon Franco of Deming was taken into custody for battery upon a peace officer and disorderly conduct, while 25-year-old Cassie Moore of Deming was booked on two counts of abandonment or abuse of a child, battery upon a household member, and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. Forty-three-year-old Tyler Mathewson of Deming was charged with interference with officers, and 75-year-old David Shoemaker of Deming was arrested on multiple counts including aggravated fleeing from law enforcement officers, aggravated assault on a peace officer, concealing identity, attempt to commit a felony, resisting officers, no driver’s license and careless driving.
In burglary reports, a silver 2002 Dodge minivan was burglarized on the 500 block of West Pine Street, with approximately $200 in property taken. A separate case involved a silver 2011 Kia sedan on the 3000 block of Las Cruces Street, where personal identity documents were reported stolen.
Other incidents included embezzlement charges against 24-year-old Brendon Adams of Deming, accused of taking more than $2,000 in merchandise from O’Reilly Auto Parts. Two people were cited and released for trespassing at Walmart: 39-year-old Jonathan Gardner and 32-year-old Vivian Valenzuela, both of Deming. Police also took a larceny report after a backpack containing a DHS laptop and school supplies was stolen from E.J. Hooten Park baseball fields on September 5. And criminal damage was reported on the 700 block of West Pine Street after a white 2020 Jeep sustained damage, possibly from being struck with a BB gun. No cost estimate of the damage was available.
