KEEP LUNA COUNTY BEAUTIFUL JOINS FAIR CLEANUP FOR THE FIRST TIME

DEMING – Keep Luna County Beautiful will take part in the Southwestern New Mexico State Fair for the first time this year, and organizers are calling on local youth groups to join the effort. The cleanup project will cover a wide area, including the fairgrounds, arena, ag center, and dance hall.

Youth groups that sign up will be responsible for emptying trash bins and picking up litter during assigned shifts. Each group selected will receive payment for their work — $250 for weekday shifts and $500 for the final day. The program not only helps maintain a clean and welcoming environment for fairgoers, but also gives young people an opportunity to raise funds for their organizations.

Organizers say this effort is about more than picking up trash; it’s about building pride and ownership in the community. Interested groups are encouraged to email [email protected] to reserve a slot.

The Southwestern New Mexico State Fair runs October 1–5 at the fairgrounds in Deming, and this year’s fair cleanup marks a new partnership aimed at keeping the event beautiful for all who attend.
