LUNA COUNTY WARNS DRIVERS OF MONSOON SEASON HAZARDS

DEMING – Luna County officials are urging drivers to use caution on local roads following recent heavy rainfall and flooding that has opened up sinkholes and fissures across the area.

The county warns motorists to watch for roadside drainage dangers and highway warning devices. Drivers are reminded of the long-standing safety message: when approaching heavy water on the roadway, “turn around, don’t drown.” Officials emphasize that avoiding flooded areas not only prevents accidents but also protects emergency responders who may be called out if vehicles become stranded.

Residents with questions or concerns may contact the Luna County Road Department at (575) 546-2703. County leaders thank the public for their cooperation and stress the importance of safe driving as monsoon season continues.
