DEMING – The Deming Public Schools Board of Education will convene for its next regular meeting on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Emmett Shockley Administration Building. The session will be open to the public and streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel.
The agenda includes several recognitions, reports, and key action items. State Senator Gabriel Ramos will present a special recognition to the district, followed by updates on enrollment, human resources, and the Deming Cesar Chavez Charter High School’s quarterly report.
Among the discussion and action items, the board will review 2026 legislative priorities for both the New Mexico Schools Superintendent Association and Deming Public Schools. Action items include the acceptance of a $21,000 NASA Center Team Grant for Deming High School’s FIRST Robotics program and approval of technology and classroom upgrades—most notably, a $147,826 transportation software purchase from Tyler Technologies and nearly $298,000 for SMART Interactive Displays at Deming High School.
The board will also consider numerous policy updates and amendments recommended by the New Mexico School Boards Association, covering areas such as staff conduct, student discipline, tobacco-free campuses, and graduation requirements.
Following the open session, the board will enter closed executive session to discuss limited personnel matters, student information under the Attendance for Success Act, collective bargaining strategy, and property issues including parcels on Hermanas Grade SW and the EJ Hooten Complex.
