General Obligation School Bond Question on November Ballot

DEMING – Deming Public Schools will have a question on the upcoming November 4, 2025, ballot asking voters to consider the issuance of General Obligation School Bonds. The measure is part of the district’s ongoing effort to maintain and improve school facilities and infrastructure throughout Luna County.

Funds from the proposed bond would be used to address districtwide HVAC needs, parking lot and roadway upgrades, improvements to athletic facilities, and updates to school playgrounds and playfields. Other priorities include replacing the central cafeteria, enhancing ADA accessibility, upgrading technology and security systems, and maintaining existing infrastructure investments.

According to the district, this bond would not increase property tax rates, as it is structured as a renewal of current bonds issued in amounts and intervals that keep the tax rate stable.

Early voting began Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Luna County Clerk’s Office and continues weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mimbres Valley Learning Center, Holy Family Parish Hall, and the Columbus Library.
