New Ambulance Expands Emergency Coverage for Southern Luna County

DEMING – Luna County has purchased a new 2024 Ford F550 4×4 ambulance at a cost of $375,349.86. The vehicle was funded through the county’s Ambulance Gross Receipts Tax fund and will be stationed in the Village of Columbus to support Columbus EMS operations.

Columbus EMS responds to about 40 emergency calls each week and operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with Luna County. Through this agreement, the agency provides emergency medical services not only within the village but also along Highway 9 in both directions and north on Highway 11, improving coverage across the southern portion of the county.

The addition of the new ambulance enhances response capabilities for rural residents and reinforces the partnership between Luna County and Columbus EMS in delivering reliable emergency care.
