DEMING–A $10 million roadway rehabilitation project on NM 26 is set to begin Monday, December 1, 2025.
The work zone will stretch from mile marker 0 at the U.S. 180 intersection to mile marker 10. Drivers should expect lane closures in both directions, along with reduced speeds. Contractor hours are scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with possible weekend operations.
Oversize and overweight loads will not be allowed during the project. A temporary traffic signal, flagging crews, pilot car operations, and speed limits reduced to 35 mph or lower will be in place throughout construction.
Mountain States Constructors will lead the project. Work will pause from December 23 through the holidays, with all traffic impacts removed before the suspension. Construction will resume January 8, 2026.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to slow down and follow all posted traffic controls. Updates are available at nmroads.com or by calling 511.
