City Council to Consider Ordinances, Hear Public Input at Tuesday Meeting

DEMING — The Deming City Council will hold its next regular meeting Tuesday, December 16, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, located at 1275 E. Pine Street. The meeting is open to the public, and local residents are encouraged to attend and participate.

According to the posted agenda, the meeting will begin with the call to order, the Pledge of Allegiance, and roll call, followed by approval of the consent agenda, which includes minutes from recent City Council, Parks Commission, Planning and Zoning, Historical Landmark, and Airport Commission meetings.

Public participation is scheduled early in the meeting, with time allotted for public input of up to three minutes per speaker. The council will also consider a proclamation recognizing School Choice Week from January 26 through January 31, 2026, and a presentation of appreciation to Councilor Rodriguez and Councilor Milo.

Several public hearings are listed on the agenda, including a hearing on authorizing the sale of municipal property to Robert S. Fox and Catherine M. Fox, as well as a proposed ordinance amending city code sections related to plastic carry-out bag restrictions for restaurants and prepared food vendors. Another public hearing will address a request for approval or denial of a restaurant B liquor license for Deming 10 LLC, doing business as India Eats.

The council is also scheduled to review a resolution authorizing the City of Deming to enter into a design funding agreement with the State of New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission.

Departmental reports from Community Services, Community Development, Public Works, and the City Manager are also on the agenda before adjournment.

Residents who are unable to attend in person may join the meeting remotely. Access information is included on the agenda, with options to participate by computer, tablet, smartphone, or by phone.

The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
