DEMING – Law enforcement activity over the reporting period included multiple arrests, citations, and property crime investigations across the community.
Among those arrested was Adelina Viola Martinez, 30, listed as homeless, who was taken into custody on a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for concealing identity and criminal trespass, as well as an Otero County Adult Probation and Parole warrant for a probation violation. No bond was issued on either warrant.
John Paul Wheeler, 55, of Deming, was arrested on charges of interference with officers, shoplifting, and a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to comply with conditions of release. No bond was issued.
Ezequiel Padilla, 24, of Deming, was arrested on charges of battery upon a household member, criminal damage to property of a household member, and resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer.
Vera Regalado Ortiz, 36, of Deming, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a license after being found to be driving on a revoked license.
In other incidents, Monique Sloan, 29, of Deming, was cited and released in connection with a shoplifting case at Walmart. Anthony Meraz, 46, of Deming, was cited and released for trespassing at the Visitors Center.
Additional shoplifting cases were reported at Walmart, where Alejandro Orosco, 29, of Deming, and Arnoldo Hernandez, 26, of Columbus, were each cited and released.
Property damage incidents were also reported. In the 100 block of East Pine Street, windows to a building were broken, with estimated damage totaling $600. In the 700 block of West Pine Street, a business sign was damaged after being struck by a BB gun, with estimated damage of $500.
All persons mentioned in this report are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
