DEMING — A routine day in local law enforcement turned into a wide-ranging sweep of court-related arrests and reported property crimes, as officers with the Deming Police Department and staff at the Luna County Detention Center processed multiple individuals on outstanding warrants and documented two vehicle burglaries.
According to the daily media report, officers arrested several Deming residents on charges that included probation violations, failures to appear in court, and warrants issued by both magistrate and district courts. Among those taken into custody were David Grado, 45, and Randy Dalton, 31, both on probation violation arrest orders, and Javier Espinoza, 24, on a Third Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear with a cash bond set. Jorge Ramirez, 33, was arrested on a magistrate court warrant connected to a shoplifting case.
Authorities also reported the arrest of Eddie Jay Muro-Chavez, 22, on multiple charges including aggravated driving while intoxicated resulting in bodily injury, negligent use of a deadly weapon while intoxicated, tampering with evidence, and several traffic and vehicle-related violations. Sergio Rivera Jr., 24, was taken into custody on charges including battery upon a peace officer, resisting or obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct, and aggravated battery. Luis Salas, 42, was arrested on a federal immigration law warrant.
Additional arrests included Gabriel Gonzales, 33, on multiple warrants for probation violations and failures to appear across several courts, Edward Horey, 38, on a warrant related to concealing identity and failure to comply with probation conditions, and Carol Sifuentes, 46, on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while her license was suspended or revoked.
Police also investigated two vehicle burglaries. A red 2023 Hyundai was burglarized in the 2300 block of East Olive Street, and a green Dodge Charger was burglarized in the 1000 block of Mallery Street. In both cases, a purse containing identification items was reported stolen, with each loss valued at approximately one hundred dollars.
