Empty Bowl Fundraiser to Help Fight Hunger in Deming

DEMING – Community members are invited to come together later this month for a meaningful local fundraiser aimed at addressing food insecurity in Luna County. The Empty Bowl Fundraiser, organized by Silver Linings, will take place Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 119 West Maple Street and offers attendees a simple but powerful experience centered on awareness and giving. Participants receive a handcrafted bowl and a luncheon, with proceeds supporting Silver Linings’ ongoing efforts to help fight hunger in the Deming area.

Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased in advance. Luncheon tickets can be ordered by calling 575-544-2512 and asking for Margaret; callers are asked to leave a voicemail if phoning after hours. Tickets are also available in person at Reader’s Cove Bookstore during regular business hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., or online at DemingSilverLinings.org.

Organizers say the Empty Bowl Fundraiser is designed to bring the community together in a shared commitment to compassion, reminding participants that while the bowls may start empty, collective action can help fill a real need for neighbors facing hunger.

Listeners can also learn more about Silver Linings and the Empty Bowl Fundraiser by tuning in to Mix 94.3 FM KDEM on Tuesday.
