Samuel “Sam” Homer Ruebush, 82, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at his residence. He was born October 21, 1943 in Deming, NM to Alymer and June (McCain) Ruebush.
Sam had deep roots in Southern New Mexico. Growing up a farmer’s son in Deming, he moved to Silver City in the late 60’s to build a life for his young family. Everyone loved Sam. He was generous, kind and never met a stranger. After retiring from his long-time career as a real estate appraiser, he became passionate about gardening, cooking and collecting wine. He loved watching baseball with Judy or going on spontaneous trips, usually right here in New Mexico. Sam had a brilliant sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to laugh. In his quiet time, he enjoyed reading and texting with his kids and granddaughters. He will be sorely missed by so many. He was a truly great man.
He is survived by his loving wife Judy of the family home; his son, Dru Ruebush (Camille) of Santa Fe, NM; his daughter, Cara Evans (Robin) of Santa Fe; two grandchildren, Ellie Evans, and Meghe Lasater; two step-children, Sean Lasater, and Deanna Lasater; his brother, Stafford Ruebush (Gwyn) of Las Cruces, NM; his two sisters, Sandra Burk of Deming; Sharon Ruebush of San Antonio, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Steve Ruebush.
