Free Diabetes Cooking Classes Offered in Deming and Columbus

DEMING – Luna County residents are invited to participate in Kitchen Creations, a free diabetes cooking class series designed to help individuals and families learn healthy meal planning and cooking skills while managing diabetes.

Kitchen Creations includes a classroom education portion led by a registered dietitian, followed by a hands-on cooking experience with the Luna County Family and Consumer Sciences Agent. The classes focus on planning meals that help manage diabetes, preparing foods in healthier ways, and providing support for those living with diabetes.

Two class series will be offered this spring. One series will be held in Columbus during March, and a second series will take place in Deming beginning in April. Classes are available in both English and Spanish, and instruction can be translated into Spanish.

The Deming Kitchen Creations classes will be held on Thursdays, April 2, 9, 16, and 23, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Luna County Extension Office, located at 210 East Poplar Street, Suite B, in Deming. Instruction will be provided by registered dietitian Janae Kraus and Luna CES Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Katherine Turner.

The Kitchen Creations program is offered through New Mexico State University Extension and partnering health organizations. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.
