New Mexico State and Luna County Election Results

DEMING – In the yesterday’s elections, New Mexico voters made impactful choices in federal, state, and local races. In the presidential contest, New Mexico backed Vice President Kamala Harris with 52% over Donald Trump’s 46%. However, Luna County leaned toward Trump, who secured 58%, with Harris receiving 39%.

For the U.S. Senate, Martin Heinrich emerged as the statewide victor with 55% over Nella Domenici’s 45%, though Luna County preferred Domenici at 54%, with Heinrich at 46%.

In a closely watched contest for U.S. Representative in District 2, Gabriel Vasquez triumphed with 52% over incumbent Yvette Herrell’s 48%, securing his return to Washington to represent New Mexico.

The New Mexico State Senate races showcased distinct local preferences. Gabriel J. Ramos won District 28 with 63% against Chris M. Ponce’s 37%. In District 35, Crystal Diamond Brantley was unopposed and received 100% of the vote.

In the 6th Judicial District Attorney race, Norman R. Wheeler claimed victory with 55% over Michael R. Renteria’s 44%, establishing Wheeler as the incoming District Attorney. Within Luna County, Wheeler slightly expanded his lead to 56%.

Local Luna County offices saw Barbara Jean Delaney win the County Clerk position with 52% over Berenda McWright’s 48%, while Kristie L. Hobbs claimed the County Treasurer position with 57% against Carmen Marie Mac Donald’s 43%. Christie Ann Harvey won the District 3 County Commissioner race, achieving 60% over Ariana Jaime Saludares’ 40%.

All judicial candidates on the ballot retained their seats, and local issues and bonds received strong support, passing decisively. Voter turnout was notable, with 58% of Luna County voters casting their ballots. All results are unofficial.
