State Police Launch Checkpoints and Patrols in Luna County and Across New Mexico

DEMING – New Mexico State Police will conduct sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in Luna County and all 33 counties across the state throughout January 2025.

Locally, residents in Deming and surrounding areas can expect increased law enforcement activity as part of this statewide initiative to reduce impaired driving-related fatalities. State Police say these efforts aim to change attitudes about driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and encourage responsible choices behind the wheel.

Officials emphasize that hundreds of lives could be saved each year if drivers made the right decision not to drive while impaired. These checkpoints are part of New Mexico’s ENDWI+ campaign, focusing on improving road safety for all.
