ALBUQUERQUE – Homicide detectives have charged 44-year-old Celeste Al-Asady with the murder of her boyfriend following an incident over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, Al-Asady called 911, reporting that she had found her boyfriend deceased in his apartment. Responding officers noted blood on Al-Asady’s clothing and found the victim inside the residence with a trail of blood leading upstairs.

Al-Asady initially claimed she had heard glass breaking earlier that morning but did not check on the victim until hours later. She told investigators she moved a pocketknife found on the floor to the counter and attempted to revive the victim by splashing water on his face.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud confrontation between Al-Asady and the victim the night before the discovery. Evidence collected suggested that Al-Asady tracked the victim’s blood throughout the apartment and tried to dispose of bloody clothing.

Al-Asady has been charged with murder and will be booked into the Metro Detention Center following medical treatment for alcohol withdrawal.

All individuals mentioned are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
