Obituary – Edward H. Green

Edward H. Green, age 87, of Deming, NM, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, at the Beehive Assisted Living Home in Deming, NM.

Ed was born on February 28, 1937, in Dunellen, New Jersey, to Edward and Elizabeth (Seal) Green. He grew up and attended school in Dunellen. After school, he worked at Cadillac in Dunellen, receiving extensive training in automotive engines and bodywork. This fostered a lifelong love of working on cars and trucks. He furthered his education in diesel mechanics and opened his own auto/truck repair business in South Plainfield, New Jersey.

In October 1972, Ed married Mary (Jablonksi) Johnson. They lived in Piscataway, NJ, and raised eight children together. In December of 1984, Ed and Mary pursued their dream of retiring to Deming, New Mexico. There, Ed built an automotive/diesel repair business on Pine Street, E & M Truck Repair, where he worked alongside his wife, who served as his office manager.

Ed’s love for Deming was profound. He took great joy in sharing the town’s historical places, especially the museum, with his children and grandchildren. His dedication to family and community was evident throughout his life, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

Ed was predeceased by his wife, Mary, of Deming; his father, Edward Green of Dunellen, NJ; his mother, Elizabeth Green Treffinger, of Deming; and his daughter, Lisa Brooks, also of Deming. His children survive him: Barbara Blythe, of Hamburg, PA; Kathleen Olson (Eric), of Elkton, MD; Cynthia Lizzano (Carl), of Summerville, SC; Laura McCurley, of Phoenix, AZ; Charles Johnson (Terrie), of Escondido, CA; Christine Matts (John), of Monroe Twp, NJ; and Edward J. Green, of Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends.
