DEMING – Drivers traveling along Interstate 10 between the New Mexico–Texas state line and Las Cruces should expect overnight lane closures as the New Mexico Department of Transportation begins resurfacing work to improve safety and reduce traffic disruptions.
The project, which involves milling off the worn top layer of roadway and replacing it with fresh asphalt, is a response to significant surface deterioration caused by heavy traffic volumes. Crews will focus on both eastbound and westbound passing and middle lanes, starting just west of the Anthony exit and extending through Las Cruces.
To minimize impact on daytime traffic, paving operations will take place nightly from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting tonight (Sunday) and continuing through Friday mornings. The work is scheduled for completion by Friday, June 27, 2025, weather permitting.
Transportation officials urge motorists to slow down, remain alert, and obey all posted signage in the active work zone to ensure everyone’s safety.
