DEMING – Residents of Deming and Luna County in need of legal assistance have an opportunity to receive free services today. The Volunteer Attorney Program of New Mexico Legal Aid is hosting a Free Legal Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mimbres Valley Learning Center, located at 2300 East Pine Street.
Assistance will be available for a wide range of legal issues, including divorce, custody, visitation, child support, wills, probate, powers of attorney, employment, unemployment benefits, contracts, and more. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are contingent on the availability of volunteer attorneys and their areas of practice.
Bilingual attorneys and staff will be on site to assist Spanish-speaking residents, and arrangements for American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation can be made in advance. For more information or to request an ASL interpreter, individuals are encouraged to call 1-877-266-9861 or email [email protected].
The Free Legal Fair is designed to support those who may otherwise be unable to afford legal representation. Financial eligibility criteria apply, with services intended for individuals and families with low to moderate incomes.
