Obituary – Patricia “Pat” Pittman Gaerttner

Patricia “Pat” Pittman Gaerttner, 96, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at her residence. She was born August 4, 1928 to her parents, Dalton Beverly and Catherine (Cooper) Pittman in Nacozari, Mexico.

Pat was a graduate of the University of California Berkeley. She was hired immediately after college by the US state department, foreign services to work in Spain as a Spanish translator where she eventually met her husband of 50 years Noel Gaerttner. Proud of her fluency in speaking Spanish all her life. Pat was a voracious reader and loved her family, friends and all animals, especially her dog Sam.

She is survived by her two nephews, John Pittman of Seattle, WA and Dalton Beverly Pittman II (Marsha) of Marysville, WA; her great-nieces, Sara Underwood (Simon) of Portland, OR and Danielle Pittman of Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; her brother, Dalton Pittman; her sister-in-law, Sharon Pittman.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating. Interment will be at 1:00pm at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her love, Noel. Pallbearers are Gale Sera, Guy Claypool, Jori Frost, Mike Raines, Alonso Romo and Larry Montoya.

Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
