DEMING – Local middle school students will once again have the chance to bring their business ideas to life at the 2025 Camp Innoventure–Deming, a weeklong summer program focused on youth entrepreneurship.
Hosted by Deming Luna County Economic Development and the City of Deming in partnership with New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center, the camp offers rising 7th and 8th graders a hands-on introduction to starting a business. From brainstorming and mission statements to product creation and marketing, students gain real-world experience in business development.
“Each year our participants get to go through the steps of starting a business and reap the reward of making real money,” DLCED President Jamie Walsh said.
The program also fosters leadership, critical thinking, and creativity. Last year, participants pitched their products to the Deming City Council and sold their goods at the local MainStreet Market.
District II Council Member Irma Rodriguez said, “Seeing the participants share their business story was truly inspiring.”
Camp Innoventure–Deming runs June 2–6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Deming City Hall, 1275 E. Pine St. Applications are open now through May 26 at www.dlced.com. A $50 registration fee is required but refunded during the camp to cover supply costs. Space is limited.
