DEMING – Starting July 1, New Mexico resident veterans will be eligible for a lifetime pass that grants free day-use and camping access to all New Mexico State Parks. The new benefit comes under legislation signed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham earlier this year.
The program is designed to honor the service of New Mexico’s veterans by removing financial barriers to enjoying the state’s public lands. The pass will be available to resident veterans with proof of honorable or general discharge, and includes free entry and camping at any of the state’s 35 parks.
Applications for the lifetime pass will be processed through the New Mexico State Parks Division. Veterans will need to submit a completed application form, a copy of their New Mexico driver’s license or ID, and military discharge paperwork (DD-214 or equivalent).
State officials say the program is part of an ongoing effort to support veterans and promote access to outdoor recreation across New Mexico.
