DEMING – The Luna County Board of Commissioners will begin with a public work session Thursday morning, November 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Luna County Courthouse. The work session will allow residents to speak on county-related topics, with comments entered into the official record. The session will adjourn before commissioners move into their regular agenda.
During the regular meeting, commissioners will recognize Road Department employee David Bailey for five years of dedicated serviceto Luna County. Bailey’s work in road maintenance and public infrastructure support will be highlighted during the service awards portion of the meeting.
The National Weather Service will provide a winter outlook presentation. A public hearing is also scheduled regarding updates to standards for manufactured homes and recreational vehicle occupancy.
Commissioners will consider a proposed call to adopt an ordinance that would eliminate single-use plastic bags in Luna County. Additional agenda items include funding measures through the Colonias program, review of a special use permit request for a property on Golden Eagle Drive, and ratification of agreements with the Commission on Aging, the Humane Society, and Deming Animal Guardians.
The board will also certify the canvass results from the 2025 Regular Local Election, followed by a session convening as the Indigent Claims Board to consider medical assistance claims.
