Deming Public Schools Encourages Families to Complete Kindergarten Readiness Survey

DEMING – Deming Public Schools is urging all parents and caregivers of current kindergarten students to complete the New Mexico Childhood Experiences Questionnaire, known as the CHEQ. The brief statewide survey collects information about children’s early experiences and helps the state and local districts improve programs, supports, and services for families.

District officials emphasized that parent participation directly contributes to stronger educational outcomes. The CHEQ takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete and is available in up to nine languages, including English and Spanish. Parents will need the student label provided by their child’s school to answer certain questions, including the State Student ID. Only one adult per child should complete the survey. The deadline to participate is November 28.

Families can access the survey at https://bit.ly/cheq2025, and it may be completed on any internet-enabled device. The survey can also be paused and resumed on the same device.

For assistance, parents may contact District CHEQ Coordinator Laura Oldham at [email protected] or 575-543-1045.

Deming Public Schools thanked families for helping strengthen early learning across the community.
