DEMING – Local pet owners facing financial challenges now have an opportunity to receive essential veterinary care at no cost through a long-standing community program. Deming Animal Guardians is offering full coverage for spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats owned by qualifying low-income residents. The program also covers each animal’s rabies vaccination, ensuring pets receive the required protection against the spread of disease.
The nonprofit, which has supported families in Luna County for decades, says the goal is to remove financial barriers that often prevent pets from receiving basic care. Representatives note that spaying and neutering helps reduce stray populations, improves household pet health, and contributes to a safer, more stable community environment.
Residents who are unsure whether they qualify are encouraged to call Robyn at 575-546-9711. She can explain income guidelines, determine eligibility, and help arrange appointments with participating veterinarians.
In addition to the free veterinary services, Bravo Mic Communications—along with KDEM-FM and KOTS-AM—is holding its annual “Santa Paws” Pet Toy and Food Drive benefiting DAGSHIP Rescue. Community members are encouraged to drop off pet toys, treats, beds, canned food, and dry kibble at the stations located at 1700 S. Gold Avenue in Deming. Donations will help support dogs and cats currently in the rescue’s care as they await adoption.
Deming Animal Guardians emphasizes that early spaying and neutering can reduce roaming, aggressive behavior, and long-term health risks—benefits that help both pets and the community they live in.
