CORRECTION & APOLOGY

DEMING – Bravo Mic Communications, along with KDEM and KOTS Radio, is issuing a correction regarding an item that appeared in a Deming Police Department media report dated Thursday, January 5.

An arrest listing in that report identified Chanda Paltza, age 50, as having been arrested for battery against a household member. That information was shared on our website and social media pages based solely on the official media release provided to us.

On Thursday, January 8, Ms. Paltza contacted the station to advise that she had not been arrested or charged. Deming Radio News then spoke directly with Deming Police Chief Sergio Lara, who confirmed that Ms. Paltza was not arrested and is not currently charged with any criminal offense. Chief Lara stated that her name was included in error in the original media report, stemming from a call for service in which her name appeared on paperwork but should not have been listed as an arrest.

The Deming Police Department has acknowledged the error, and Ms. Paltza’s name has been removed from all KDEM and KOTS platforms. Chief Lara expressed regret for the mistake.

Bravo Mic Communications, KDEM, and KOTS Radio also sincerely apologize for the error and regret any distress or difficulty this may have caused Ms. Paltza and her family. Our reporting relies on official information released to us, and we are committed to correcting the record promptly when inaccuracies are identified.
