DEMING – Deming Police have released several media reports detailing arrests and investigations from early to mid-February, covering a range of alleged offenses and incidents reported throughout the community. Authorities remind the public that all individuals named in these reports are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Police reported that on February 12, Sonia Granado, 50, was arrested on charges of unlawful use of a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a fourth-degree felony. Additional arrests were reported earlier in the month, including Viviana Perez, 25, on a charge of criminal damage to property of a household member; Marie Escobar, 51, on a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to appear with a $700 cash bond; and Eric Quintana, 40, on a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear with no bond.
On February 10, police arrested Christina Ortiz, 30, on a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear with no bond. Noah Massey, 30, was arrested on a charge of criminal damage to property following a reported broken window at a business on East Pine Street, with damage estimated at $1,000. Arturo Espinoza, 58, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear. Sayra Vega, 27, was arrested on charges of interference with officers and trespass.
The most recent report, dated February 17, included multiple arrests. Frank Gonzales, 60, was arrested on a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation with no bond. Brenda Sosa, 30, was arrested on a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to comply with conditions of release, also with no bond. Maria Jimenez, 21, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of liquor, failure to maintain lane, and open container, while Lorenzo Jaramillo, 18, was arrested on a charge of aggravated DWI. Sayra Escontrias, 27, was arrested on charges including concealing identity, no driver’s license, no insurance, and improper display of a registration plate. Santiago Del Valle, 19, was arrested on charges of shoplifting, resisting or evading an officer, and criminal damage to property. Additional arrests included Frank Cuong, 37; Adelina Viola Martinez, 30; Juan Bermudez, 37; Leslie Molina Cera, 23; and Everett Young, 52, all on various warrants or misdemeanor charges.
In addition to arrests, police investigated several incidents that did not result in charges. During the early morning hours of February 12, officers responded to reports of a suspicious male entering parked vehicles in the 1100 block of South Platinum Avenue and later in the area of East Locust Street. In both cases, the suspect fled on foot when confronted. A DoorDash card was briefly taken during one incident and later recovered, and no injuries were reported. After confirming their property had been returned, the involved residents declined to pursue charges.
Police also reported a residential burglary at a home on Country Club Drive, where more than $130 worth of clothing was stolen. Other incidents included shoplifting cases investigated at Walmart, including one involving Joseph Lugo, 48, and another involving Arturo Pena Cruz, 47, who is listed as being from Silver City. Additional reports included a stolen bicycle from a residence on South Ruby Street, a stolen license plate from a pickup truck, and an open container citation issued to Yesenia Martines Mateo, 21.
Deming Police continue to encourage residents to remain vigilant, secure vehicles and property, and promptly report suspicious activity to Central Dispatch or Crime Stoppers.
