Behavioral Health Listening Session Set for Deming

DEMING – Community members in Luna County will have an opportunity to share their voices on the future of behavioral health services during an upcoming regional listening session in Deming.

The session is part of the Behavioral Health Reform Act community outreach effort for Region 6, which includes the Fort Sill Apache Tribe and the counties of Grant, Luna, and Hidalgo. Organizers say the goal is to gather public input on both mental health and substance-related issues, helping shape what an ideal behavioral health system should look like at the local level.

The in-person session for Luna County and the Fort Sill Apache Tribe is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at 700 South Silver Avenue in Deming. A virtual participation option will also be available with advance registration.

Facilitators will guide discussion focused on identifying gaps in services, community priorities, and potential improvements to strengthen access to care. Organizers emphasize that public participation is essential to ensuring reforms reflect the needs of residents across southwestern New Mexico.

Spanish facilitation will be available during virtual sessions, and native language facilitation is also available virtually upon request during registration.

The listening session is being hosted and facilitated in partnership with the New Mexico Judiciary, the New Mexico Alliance of Health Councils, and local county representatives.

Residents interested in participating virtually are encouraged to register in advance. Additional information about the Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act is available through the New Mexico Courts website.
