DEMING – Veterans in Luna County will have an opportunity to receive in-person assistance with benefits when the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services brings its Mobile Outreach Vehicle to Deming later this month.
The outreach team will be set up at the Luna County Courthouse, located at 700 South Silver Avenue, on Friday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Veterans and their families will be able to meet directly with a Veteran Service Officer for help accessing both federal Veterans Affairs benefits and programs offered by the State of New Mexico.
Officials say the mobile outreach visit is designed to make it easier for veterans to apply for benefits and receive guidance on available services. Assistance will be available for VA and state benefit applications, as well as information about health care, compensation, pension programs, and education benefits.
Veterans planning to attend are encouraged to bring a DD-214 or other proof of military service, a photo ID, and any relevant medical, financial, or service documents that may help support their applications. VA letters and related paperwork are also recommended if available.
The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services says the outreach effort helps connect veterans and their families with the benefits and resources they earned through their service.
For additional information, veterans can contact the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services central office at 866-433-8387 or visit the department’s website at nmdvs.org.
