Authorities Release Summary of Recent Arrests and Local Incidents

DEMING – Deming Police Department officials have released a report detailing several recent arrests and incidents handled by officers in the community.

Among those arrested were Kathy Chavez, 45, on a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear with no bond. Carrie Howell, 36, was arrested and charged with interference with officers and possession of paraphernalia. Jose Salinas, 42, was arrested and charged with battery against a household member, assault, and disorderly conduct.

Clara Sequak, 39, was arrested and charged with battery upon a peace officer, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, and a Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear with no bond. Marie Montoya, 51, was arrested on a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to comply with conditions of release with no bond.

Angel Valenzuela, 29, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation violation warrant. Ricardo Lopez, 23, was arrested on a Luna County Magistrate Court warrant for failure to appear with a $150 cash bond. Eric Hernandez, 38, was arrested and charged with aggravated second offense DWI and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. Carlos Martinez, 37, was arrested and charged with escape from the custody of a peace officer, battery upon a peace officer, resisting, evading or obstructing an officer twice, and concealing identity.

Police also reported that Maria Granillo, 38, was cited and released for shoplifting at Walmart. In other incidents, a 2016 Ford SUV was damaged while parked at a business in the 400 block of East Pine Street, with damage estimated at more than $500. Officers also received a report of a bicycle valued at $50 stolen from the library.
