DEMING – Families across Deming who have lost a loved one to cancer are being invited to take part in a meaningful community tribute this spring, as organizers prepare for the 2026 Celebration of Life Memorial Walk scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd.
The annual event, organized by the Celebration of Life Cancer Warriors support group, provides an opportunity for families to honor and remember those who have battled cancer, while also bringing the community together in support of survivors, caregivers, and loved ones who continue the fight. The memorial walk has become a heartfelt tradition in Deming, offering a place for remembrance, healing, and unity.
Organizers are currently seeking honorees for this year’s event and are encouraging local families to register the names of loved ones they wish to recognize. The deadline to register as an honoree is April 24th, allowing time to prepare tribute materials and ensure each individual is properly honored during the ceremony.
Community members who have experienced the loss of a family member or friend to cancer are invited to participate, regardless of when that loss occurred. Event organizers say the walk is not only about remembrance, but also about strengthening community support networks and raising awareness about cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship resources available in the area.
