DEMING – A group of determined young athletes from Deming proudly brought home a first-place trophy this past weekend after winning the Silver Bracket at the Deming Bataan Death March Memorial Tournament held in Las Cruces.
The Deming Sandlot team, made up of players ages 9 and 10, competed against teams from across the region and showed strong teamwork, hustle, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Coaches and parents say the players stayed focused and played with heart, earning their way into the championship game and finishing on top of their bracket.
Supporters who traveled to Las Cruces cheered on the team from the stands, celebrating each big hit and defensive play as the young players represented their hometown with pride. Community members say victories like this highlight the importance of youth sports in building confidence, friendships, and life skills at an early age.
The first-place finish in the Silver Bracket marks a memorable accomplishment for the 9- and 10-year-old Deming Sandlot team and gives them momentum as they continue their season.
