Strengthening Families Program Expands to Deming and Lordsburg

DEMING, N.M. — Deming Public Schools is promoting a new round of sessions for the Strengthening Families Program, a nationally recognized initiative aimed at helping parents and children build stronger relationships, improve communication, and foster resilience.

The program, now hosting sessions in both Deming and Lordsburg, offers families tools and support to navigate life’s challenges together. It emphasizes three core goals: building resilience, creating connection, and empowering children to grow into confident, successful individuals.

Organizers say the sessions are open to families with children ages 10 to 17 and are designed to be inclusive, practical, and community-driven. Participants receive access to resources, peer support, and structured activities that encourage teamwork and emotional growth.

The flyer distributed by Deming Public Schools highlights the importance of parental engagement, stating that “Parent engagement makes us all stronger.” Sessions are free and available locally, with contact information provided for interested families.

The Strengthening Families Program has been implemented in all 50 states and dozens of countries, with research showing positive outcomes in reducing behavioral issues and improving family dynamics.

Local families can join by contacting 575-694-5243 to reserve a spot. The initiative reflects a broader effort to support youth development and family wellness in rural New Mexico communities.
