DEMING – The Western New Mexico University Board of Regents will convene for a regular meeting on Friday, April 24, in a hybrid format that allows both in-person attendance and public participation through a livestream.
University officials announced the meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the J. Cloyd Miller Library on the WNMU campus in Silver City, with seating available for members of the public. The session will also be streamed online to provide broader access for community members and stakeholders.
Members of the Board of Regents scheduled to participate include Steven Neville, John V. Wertheim, Keana Huerta, J. Dean Reed, and Gregory Trujillo, along with the university’s executive leadership team. Interim University President Dr. Chris Maples is expected to deliver the President’s Report during the meeting.
Agenda items include consideration of promotion and tenure matters, faculty handbook changes, acceptance of the fiscal year 2025 final audit report, and review of the proposed fiscal year 2027 operating budget. Regents are also scheduled to discuss annual asset disposal, internal auditor services, and resolutions related to student scholarships and compliance with the New Mexico Open Meetings Act.
Public comments will be accepted during the meeting. Individuals wishing to provide comments virtually must contact the Office of the President by Wednesday, April 22 at noon to be placed on the comment list.

The meeting will be held in the Serna Conference Room at the WNMU Castorena Building, located within the J. Cloyd Miller Library at 1000 West College Avenue in Silver City.
