DEMING – State unemployment data has unveiled the latest unemployment statistics for Luna County, revealing a slight decrease from the previous year and the preceding month. Luna County’s unemployment rate stands at 12.2%, regrettably retaining its position as the highest in the state, a familiar trend.
The previous month showed an unemployment rate of 12.6%. Interestingly, last year saw a lower unemployment rate of 11.0% during the month of April.
In the broader region, Grant County reported a 2.9% unemployment rate, Hidalgo County came in at 3.4%, and the Las Cruces area reported a 4.2% rate. Once again, Luna County outpaced the state with the highest unemployment, while Los Alamos boasted the lowest at 1.6%.
At the state level, New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April stayed steady at 3.8%. Nationally, the unemployment rate for April was 3.9%, up from 38% in March.
