Exciting Updates and Improvements Planned for Luna County Sports Complex
DEMING – The Luna County Sports Complex is set to undergo several exciting updates, addressing numerous community concerns and questions. One major topic of discussion is shade, with plans to add six shade structures throughout the park.
According to a post on the County’s Facebook page, To enhance security, the complex will also see the installation of cameras and additional lighting. The skate park and courts will remain free to use, though users may need to register with Starmax; the registration process is still being finalized.
Regarding the number of courts, there will be two dedicated pickleball courts, with the option to add striping for two more on the basketball court if needed. The batting cages will have a usage fee, though the exact amount is yet to be determined. Officials are working to set this fee and will inform the community once it is established.
Accessibility has been a priority in the planning process. Most sidewalks will be seven feet wide, with no section less than five feet wide. The batting cages will be ADA accessible, and the skate park will feature a shaded viewing area. Additionally, the snack bar will have a lower counter, and the new restrooms are being built to ADA standards.
These improvements, along with many other thoughtful features, aim to benefit everyone in the community. Luna County and the contractor are eager to showcase all the enhancements made to the complex.
